PWD(Water Resources) is a multidisciplinary infrastructure development Organization/Wing, under Public Works Department (PWD), Government of Tripura, with a mandate to "Provide assured irrigation including monitoring the balanced sustainable water resources and flood protection embankment &anti erosion activities to escape from disaster due to flood/flood damages in the State.”

PWD(Water Resources) is headed by the Chief Engineer at its headquarter at Kunjaban, Agartala.

Field activities are performed through 3(three) working Circles headed by Superintending Engineers, 7 (seven) working Divisions, headed by Executive Engineers,1 (one) Investigation Division headed by Executive Engineer, and 33(thirty three) working Sub-Divisions headed by Assistant Engineers located at different parts of the State, covering all the 8 (eight) Districts. Besides, 1(one) Resource Division (Store Division) headed by Executive Engineer and 2(two) sub-divisions headed by Assistant Engineer are within the W.R organizational set up for procurement of relevant materials.

As of now, enhancing the irrigation coverage for production & productivity in the agriculture sector and flood management are the core objectives of the Department.
